First phase
The original logo
After establishing the requirements and style of the logo, I took inspiration from modern science fiction movies and series, such as Apple TV+’s adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s ‘Foundation’, and Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s ‘Dune’.
Second phase
The redesign
About a year later, the creators behind ‘Starbase’ decided to rename the game to ‘Starbasis’.
With this change came the redesign of the logo, which needed to capture the same feeling as the original, but with a more sleek design.


Third phase
Studio branding
With this rebrand, the creators behind ‘Starbasis’ needed a logo for their studio.


Working across two rebrands taught me how much a name change can shift a visual identity brief. I learned to ask more questions upfront about long-term brand direction, rather than designing for the immediate request.
